Sinophi has been engaged in numerous advisory and management assignments in China, other Asian countries and in North America.

Sinophi’s team brings a decade of this international and China experience to its business of investing in and managing hospitals in China. Sinophi has worked on projects in China and around Asia for national governments and multilateral institutions (including World Bank / IFC and Asia Development Bank), and for investors and hospitals (including in China, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei and Pakistan).

Sinophi’s China hospital experience includes both general and specialty hospitals, including ophthalmology, neuro / stroke rehab, maternity, dermatology, oncology and cardiovascular.    Functional experience includes improving operational effectiveness, patient experience, clinical protocols, financial / IT systems, bed turnover, hospital profitability and hospital governance.

AmMed Cancer Center, Hong Kong

Advisory services in the formulation of AmMed’s China build-out strategy, including detailed financial modeling, to develop five international standards ambulatory oncology centers across China.

Beijing-Toronto International Hospital, Beijing, China

Long term engagement by Nanjing University Science and Technology Park Company, the owner, to perform a number of focused reviews, evaluations and consultations for this incomplete hospital project. The range of analysis and reviews conducted was extensive and included, strategic planning, short-range tactical planning, market analysis, corporate and clinical governance, administrative structure, functional programme and physical space planning, short-term forecast of revenues and expense, an assessment of development costs, staffing (medical and non-medical) and others.

BioSkinCo, Mexico

Advisory services, feasibility studies and identification of potential strategic partners for licensing of their biotechnology business into Asia.

Bumrungrad Hospital International, Bangkok, Thailand

Advisory services and review for the international subsidiary of this renowned Bangkok-listed hospital for its new business initiatives in North, South and South East Asia outside Thailand, particularly China.

Cardiovascular Hospitals of America, Kansas, USA

Advisory services and review of its internationalization strategy and assistance with development of feasibility studies for its new business initiatives in Asia including the Philippines, Thailand and China. Reviewed and advised on further development of a novel space plan to extract significant improvements in workflow efficiency leading to significant reductions in length of stay of open heart surgery patients, thereby increasing annual hospital throughput leading directly to significant bottom line improvements and valuation.

Chengdu International Hospital, Chengdu, China

Conducted a due diligence review for both market and financing purposes of a proposed international standards hospital venture in Chengdu designed to offer healthcare services to the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Assisted client to identify potential risks associated with the project.

Chongqing Aixin International Hospital, Chongqing, China

Advisory services for a proposed 500 bed international standards hospital and retirement complex development.  Developed feasibility studies, preliminary master plan and design considerations. Defined the criteria and other requirements for a commissioning and management contract to be put to tender.

Galichia Medical Group, Kansas, USA

Advisory services and review of its internationalization strategy and assistance with development of feasibility studies for its new business initiatives in China.

Government of Brunei

In a joint venture with a local partner, assisted the Government of Brunei Darussalam in the development of feasibility study of a national healthcare financing plan under Islamic insurance principles (Takaful), and proposed options for a new design-build-operate scheme for both general healthcare services and a specialist cardiovascular facility.

Interhealth Canada Limited, Canada

Advisory services to client in the management of The Sheikh Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi and several healthcare projects in the Middle East. Assisted in the development and structuring of strategic partnerships Abu Dhabi / Sheikh Khalifa and significant public and private healthcare partners in Canada.

Interhealth Canada Limited, Canada

Advisory services to client for the due diligence process in the divestment of holdings in the Sino-foreign joint venture investment in the Beijing-Toronto International Hospital. In addition to transaction management, advisory services included negotiation services to ensure the mitigation of residual potential liabilities remaining from the owners’ discontinued participation in the development.

International Finance Institution (Asian-Based)

Engaged by a prominent Asian-headquartered, multilateral international financial institution to conduct a due diligence and project assessment for a major, tertiary hospital green-field development in the Philippines involving the investment of approximately US$ 100 million.

International Finance Institution (US-Based)

Prepared, a comprehensive operational review and investment valuation of a large tertiary care hospital in Bangkok.  The analysis included a detailed evaluation of service quality, efficiency, potential profitability and valuation of the facility as well as a detailed healthcare market assessment of greater Bangkok for a prominent US-based multilateral, international financial institution. We were finally asked to recommend either redemption or conversion to equity of a sizeable convertible bond held by the financial institution.

International Finance Institution (US-Based)

Engaged by a prominent US-based, multilateral international financial institution, to prepare a comprehensive operational and financial review of a large oncology facility in China with a view to a substantial two stage investment. This involved initial capital for general services upgrade, and subsequent investment to create a state of the art treatment facility employing breakthrough, leading edge radiation technology.

Persie International Enterprises (HK) Limited and Doo’s Trading Limited, Hong Kong

Developed a feasibility study and business plan for an international hospital project in Shanghai which included a review of Chinese healthcare system, evaluation of Shanghai healthcare market, supply and needs analysis, marketing strategy based on survey of target consumer groups, and five-year financial forecasts based on multiple scenarios, review of related laws and regulations. Assisted investor to seek project financing.

TEDA Cardiovascular Hospital, Tianjin, China

Advisory services and review of its internationalization strategy and assistance with development of feasibility studies for its new business initiatives.

The West Clinic, Tennessee, USA – Singapore – Shanghai, China

Conducted an in-depth market analysis to determine the viability of the client’s recently developed oncology services in the Shanghai market. This included an assessment of the feasibility, scale and anticipated financial returns associated with the introduction of the company’s services into China. Recommended business development strategy and proposed business models for consideration by the board of directors.

Veritas Medical Group, Hong Kong

Transaction and advisory services in the acquisition of the Repulse Bay Medical Practice from Quality Healthcare Asia and the subsequent management of the redevelopment of the clinic facilities to upgrade the clinic to enable the delivery of high end primary care services.
